Stopped at our comfort stop not a moment too soon as several jumped off their bikes and ran to the bathrooms. LOL After a few Oooh’s and Ahhh’s, we saddled back up to hit the asphalt to get back into some serious riding. We found some country roads that none of us had ever experienced and were just in awe of the scenery and enjoyed every split second of it.
Pulled into Hubb’s Farm around 12:22 PM and 102 miles later with big smiles all around. Started out at Pa’s Kitchen to have some grub. Several ordered the baloney sandwich that was huge, while others ordered burgers or hot dogs. TJ ordered some chili cheese fries much to the delight of some (like me). And then there they were…just staring at us with those amazing chocolatey morsels, the BIGGEST freaking chocolate chip cookies we have ever seen! They had to be 10 inches in diameter. We had to get two of them to share. But Bam Bam had something else on her mind…she was very distracted by the smell and kept looking over her shoulder toward the booth before she even finished her hot dog. Up she goes and comes back with a plate of funnel cakes covered in powdered sugar. Yummy!
Ok now it was time to get down to business and head for the corn maze. OMG they have three (3) of them! The Game Maze (Easy), The Ore Car Maze (Tougher) and The Paydirt Pete Maze (Difficult). How to choose? Pistol Pete & Bam Bam picked the most difficult one and led the group into the densely thick maze. Felt like we were in the Wizard of Oz…”Oh My”. Not long after we entered some got lost and started hollering…”Marco”…”Polo”? LOL After we found the first marker and figured out the maze layout using the map, we were on our way! This was a very fun experience and very challenging too. Finally we popped out of the exit when I heard Nancy and Pam say they were bringing some wine next time we do this. LOL That maze was 3 miles long – WOW!
After the maze, we enjoyed some corn on the Cobb then a tractor hay ride, less the hay, learned a little NC trivia along the way (who knew Roger was such an expert on NC trivia…he got all the answers correct!) and ended up on the other side of the farm at a small animal petting area. Biggest frickin giant rabbits I have ever seen and the donkey would not eat the food I bought for him so Pam called him a Jack A@#! Ha ha Then we headed over to the NC State Troopers Exhibit Area. This was cool! They had a driver’s course set up, complete with a golf cart and safety cones (right up TJ’s alley). You had to wear fuzzy goggles (that blurred your vision) while you attempt to drive and navigate through the course (with the Trooper sitting next to you). OMG too funny and Bam Bam gets 1st Place with only driving over one cone. She will be our designated driver for sure. True to form, Safety Cone TJ ran over a bunch of them and even got one stuck under the cart. LOL Pistol Pete did an awesome job after the trooper had to help place his foot on the accelerator since he could not see a blessed thing. Ha ha Make sure to check out the videos!
We had such a great time and could not believe we spent 3 hours at this place. We also were interviewed by the staff who said we may end up on their website. Awesome experience and we will definitely be going back! We finally saddled up and headed for home with the wind in our face and bugs in our teeth. Took a direct route home down Hwy 421 with a comfort stop at Johnson’s Grocery. Reminisced over some of our great memories during the day then said our goodbyes and continued on our way homeward bound.
It was a fantastic day of beautiful countryside riding with awesome two-wheeled friends who traveled a total of 185 miles for the day! Thanks to “TJ” for covering our butts as Tail Gunner, to the member who donated a $100 contribution for our St Jude fundraiser (you rock!) and to all who joined us on our Corn A…MAZING Ride!
Ride safe & often…
