October 19, 1951 - September 4, 2016
It is with deep sadness that I must inform all of you of one of our member's passing today. Ronnie "Shorty" Boswell was a current and long time member for over 14 years and was a current Road Captain as well as a previous 1st Officer of the Port City Chapter 162 who will be deeply missed. Shorty was the pivotal force within the club, always helping anyone in need or offering his years of experience to help them become better riders. Shorty has traveled a total of 7,905 miles in 2016 alone and over 77,507 miles with the club since we began keeping track of mileage. He enjoyed a short 121 mile ride yesterday with his Cruiser family and friends and was getting ready to lead a ride today to South Carolina and a long distance ride on Thursday to the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Tennessee.
Shorty suffered a massive stroke on Sunday, September 4, 2016, which inhibited his ability to recover and he ultimately succumbed to his condition and passed away at approximately 5:15 pm that afternoon. Shorty was surrounded by his family, friends, and SCRC Port City 162 brothers and sisters throughout the day who stood vigil by his side until the end.
Please join me in expressing our heartfelt sympathy to Shorty's family, friends, and all of our Cruiser family who knew and loved him. Our deepest condolences and prayers to you all at this very difficult time.
May the sun rise in front of me
May the rain fall behind me
And the wind follow me
May the angels guard my travels
For they know the road ahead of me
Keep me safe through swirling turns and rolling hills
Let the eagle guide me to the mountaintops
Let the moons light guide me through the night
Lord thank you for letting me be a biker!
Although your light no longer burns
Your memory will burn on in our hearts and minds forever
We will always love and miss you, our Cruiser brother...
Enjoy riding the cloudy skyways of heaven
