Hot Hot hot! I like it hot... not this hot . 100 degrees. who knows what the heat index was?
We had 9 port city members and 2 guest show up on this hot day. 11 bikes depart the circle k heading for Hope Mills lake and Big T's restaurant. I took as many backroads as I could find. man it was hot! Stopped at a little country store so we could hydrate. A little longer comfort stop than normal because it was hot. we finished the last 40 miles into Hope mills turned by the lake oops u-turn turned one street to soon no biggie group did great. We pulled up to the restaurant nothing fancy hamburgers dogs and ice cream. I think we overwhelmed them service slow, but all was good because it was hot and there was a nice breeze coming off the lake. We tried a little of everything on there menu some quality facetime and away we went. took the fast way home straight down 87 made it to Reiglewood for our comfort stop and so the Queen could have her goodbye tour. no she's not leaving. you have to ride to understand. Everyone drank plenty of fluid because it was hot. Toby was happy I stopped because it was hot. We said our goodbyes and I took it on into the Port city. Great day to ride a little hot thanks to all who braved the heat 204 klicks on this day. Thanks Scottie awesome job tailgunning. Till next time cruiser's, hope it's sooner than later. The PROFESSOR N.C ASST STATE OFFICER Great weather for the start of our day at the Circle K! 7 Cruisers were ready to do some riding ! vonErika, Preacher, Curbb, Scotty, Ditch, and Slingshot gathered around for a brief pre-ride and then we all saddled up to hit the road.
Out past Laney HS and followed 133 to 140 by the GE plant. Down 140 to the Mt. Misery exit and LET THE GAMES BEGIN!! Went single file and started to crank it up a bit! Great road and beautiful riding. Breathe that in!! AHHHHhhhhhHHHH!!! We headed left and picked up 74 up to 87 S. Another great road to cruise on , but it had to end at the intersection of 17S. Right turn and down the highway to Cherry Bomb! WOOOOOOO!! Very nice! Next- Galloway Rd . Back out on 17 for a bit, then a left turn on Stone Chimney to hit our rest stop at the Marathon station on 211. 63 miles down! We chilled for awhile at the station. BR, drinks, BS and enjoyed the AC. vonErika had olives... Preacher said the word: "Let's go eat hot dogs." And so it was. Everyone filed out in orderly fashion to the bikes and we got back to fun. Out on 211 towards Southport. We hung a left on 906 and worked out way over to Old Ocean Hwy. You know the rest... Danford Rd. , 87, Funston, Daws Creek, River Road back into Leland. Slingshot pulled off at this point. The rest of the crew headed over to the Harley Shop via 421 , Blue Clay Rd, N. College and Gordon Road. CMA was all set up to serve some tasty , perfectly grilled hot dogs, Fritos, sodas and water. We sat down and chowed ! Nasty weather started to move in so Curbb , Scotty , Preacher , and Ditch headed out to beat the weather. I heard some did not quite make it home without getting soaked... 116 Klicks on the Klock today! Thanks for following me! 'Til the Next Ride... rePete First Officer SCRC Port City 162 What a great day for a ride 7 bikes 7 riders left the Circle K. Headed to Delco to pick up our 8th bike and rider. Turned toward 87 E-town and Giorgios was the plan.
Ahhh back roads Lisbon to McCoy. We are rolling then Our Queen says help my bike. I pull the group to a safe spot and rePete and myself take off to get the Queen. Gwynn joins in we get tools out figure out the problem. Naahh ...we need a trailer! We call Charles and he was with Dottie shopping for cars. He said "I'll come save the Queen." We left the bike at Allen Priest road and McCoy - some good roads. I gave her Highness a ride to the restaurant. We ate. Sylvia was our waitress as always. She rocks! Food was awesome. We saddled back up headed back to the bike. Yeah! Backroads again! We arrived to the location of Deb's bike and Charles showed up with the trailer 5min later. We loaded up and headed back to the hills... that is, to Curb and Buckwheat's house. We dropped the bike off and got the Queen home. A great day! Thanks for tailgunning Queen and Gwynn . Thanks Charles and Dottie. Thanks to all who came out and road. 119 miles on this day. Till next time Cruiser's. Hope it's sooner than later! The PROFESSOR N.C ASST STATE OFFICER Great Ride today led by RCIT- Pauly D. We had 11 Cruisers attend today for a little cruise down to Oak Island.
After pre-ride , we made our way over the Isabella Holmes to Leland and followed River Rd. to Daws Creek. Hung a left on 87 and rocked down Danford to Old Ocean Hwy. Left onto 906 took us strait into Oak Island and our lunch stop for today! Kai Joe's was a hoppin' place! It was a "order window" kinda joint and the tacos and burritos were EXCELLENT! We hung outside at the picnic tables and chatted. Lucky for us it was overcast or this might have been a little brutal... We saddles up and headed over to Southport for the Ferry. It was PACKED. No room on a ferry for an hour plus, so we U-Turned and got outta Dodge! Back to 87 and 133 into Leland. From Leland, I took over the group to lead to Currb and Toby's house for ice cream , popsicles and beverages! Thanks for having us ya'll! 98 Klicks today! rePete First Officer SCRC Port City 162 Today was Paulie D's first ride as a RC in training. He did a wonderful job.
There were a total of 5 people on the ride to the restaurant and we met up with Big Don and Sylvia!! At the restaurant Preacher and I gave Paul some pointers and he did excellent on the way back. He took all back roads to our destination and we came back on 40 till we hit Rocky Point. There was some interest in Ice Cream. Imagine that. So we stopped to get some ice cream and then we went on to see Sheila. She told us that the Doctors say she is going to be allowed to go home soon! Thanks Paul for the great lead today and Preacher for tailgunning. 89 miles. RoadQueen |
