We had 11 riders show up today. Today's starting line-up:
rePete, Road Queen, Curbb, Pistol Pete, ALL THAT, Chowsky, Betty Boop, Scotty, Sandy, GodFather, and TJ.
We headed out of the Circle K at around 10am. Headed over to MLK, Isabella Holmes, 74 to Leland. Jumped on River Road and did some of the back roads over to Bolivia. From there down Old Ocean Hwy to Benton and out to 17. Quick left and right and we were at our rest stop on 211 by 11am. We picked up our 12th Cruiser there- ASO Professor.
The ride was chill today...no hurries, no worries. It was good to see Cruisers mingling and enjoying the company. We joked and took picture and then the 2-minute warning. Everyone got saddled up and we rolled out down 211 toward Southport.
We had some more riding to do before we arrived at the Southport Smokehouse, so we went thru Winding River Golf Club over to Sunset Harbor Rd. Sunset Harbor led us back to 211. At 906 we made a ralph and headed into Oak Island for a cruise down the strand. We headed over the bridge and came back to 211. Right turn and a straight shot to the Southport Smokehouse. It was almost 12pm and we were right on schedule!
We had a fantastic lunch! The Smokehouse never disappoints. We filled up half the dining room and the socializing and joking continued. Road Queen was our waitress and she did a fine job! thanks! When everyone was stuffed, we got back out to the bikes and started to get ready to head over to the ferry for the 1:45p. to Ft. Fisher.
We cruised thru town and down by the water before following the signs to the ferry. We paid our fee and lined the bikes up in the NO PARKING zone to wait for the ferry. Again, some eazy breezy social time to look at Ditch's new Trike and talk about whatever! Before we knew it, it was time to load up and float over to Ft. Fisher.
The boat ride was crisp! We got off without incident and pointed the bikes north into Carolina Beach. We parked at the bank across from Celtic Creamery and walked over. Nice little gift shop and ice cream shop! Professor's dad met us there and was introduced to the Cru. We ate ice cream, shopped, talked, and Road Queen cleaned up after us. Then she hugged everyone and it was time to head home.
Back on the bikes... one group took off while the other group waited for Godfather to go back into the shop to grab his ornament he forgot. We rolled out and back to the Munky Junktion area where we peeled off to Curbb's house. The rest continued the ride up north to Hampstead.
We had 102 miles on the day! It was great to see everyone today! Please come out and ride more often. Thanks to Scotty for tailgunning!
'Til the Next Ride...
