A total of 6 Cruisers were seen today - 2 of them riding their bikes. First, I met Ditch , Road Queen and Professor at the Circle K just before 10am. RQ and Prof were in the cage , Mike and I on the bikes. The drizzle started to pick up as we left the Circle K and headed out to take Sidbury Rd out to the Ogden area. It was misty and windy and overcast and generally crappy. We made it to Battleship Cycles and met up with RQ and Prof who had driven there directly.
Next to join the festivities was Gwynn. (If you are keeping count- so far that is 5 Cruisers.) He found a puddle of oil under the Triumph in the morning and needed to address that issue. He was out getting oil and decided to take a ride over and hang with us at Battleship. As anticipated, Professor was already working with a salesman to try and get on the new Indian Challenger. WHile they crunched numbers, we all browsed, drank coffee and ate donuts and dreamed of being wealthy. The Indian bikes are sooooo friggin' nice!! Damn!
Well.... they still couldn't hit the number on the Challenger for Professor, so no new bike today. RQ and Travis took off for home and Gwynn, Ditch and myself started over to Precision Cycles for the fundraiser/pic pickin' to benefit Ben Strong who was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident. Shockingly, when we got there, we were the only two nutjobs to ride a bike?!?!?! haha!!! It was a miserable day of weather, but a bad day on the bike is better than a good day at work.
The party was inside one of the shops by Precision and they had it set up with a food line, tables to sit at , 50/50 raffle and chinese auction. Gwynn bought a t-shirt, Ditch and I bought a bunch of tickets and threw money in the bucket. While we were purchasing tickets, who comes walking in?? Preacher and wife Pam! Cool! And THAT is Cruiser number 6! Nice to see them! We sat down and ate and talked as the shop started to fill up to about 50 people. A big round of applause when Ben came in! It was really a nice event and the family was very appreciative of the turn out!
Ditch and I were ready to head for home so we bundled up and got back on the scoots. Mike followed me out to Gordon Road and split off at Hoover Rd as I continued toward Monkey Junction. 40 miles today.
'Til the Next Ride.
