We warmed up the engines by heading out 117 , 133 and 210 to 421. Right turn on 421 and set it on autopilot. This ride was going to be a straight shot up 421 . The group only had to execute one passing maneuver to get around a horse trailer until we got to the rest area at about 50 miles.
Saddled back up and hit the road again finishing 2nd 50 mile portion through Clinton, Dunn, and into the Erwin, Coats and Angier area. The PC162 pulled into D&Q Motorsports to the welcome of about 50 bikes and the 5 Points Chapter 216.
5 Points 216 was hosting a hot dog fundraiser for St. Jude at the swap meet. There were a couple of vendors set up with their HARRRLEY stuff spread about(- actually some really nice Vance and Hines pipes....more on that later.....). We had the nice surprise of seeing former PC162 members Brian and Connie (Cake Man and Sweetie Pie) as well as many other members of other Southern Cruiser chapters that came out to support St. Jude!
We kicked around and bs'd with friends while eating hotdogs, chips and drinking water and soda. Some sought the shade of the D&Q building , the gazebo, or porch while others took in the sunshine . Toby decided to wander over to the parts vendors and found an air cleaner cover that she liked. Currb checked to see if it would fit, but it didn't. Back over at the vendor , Toby spotted some V&H pipes that were in good shape and started to consider getting them for her Classic. She wanted some more growl than the stock pipes gave her. After some consideration, they struck a deal for 30 bucks. We quickly got them strapped to the back on my Vision passenger seat and started to think about getting home to put them on!
I circled my index finger above my head to the rest of our club and we said our goodbyes and started to saddled up. We busted out of D&Q to follow our tracks back to ILM. We stopped for gas down the road a bit and then set the gps for Clinton Dairy Queen!! YES!!!
Diry Queen was a little busy on this fine day. We were in no rush and everybody patiently waited in line to order. Needless to say- IT WAS SOOOO GOOOOD! After saying final goodbyes for the day, we saddled up one more time for the approach into ILM.
Standard stuff as we rolled down 421 towards town. Folks pulling off at there exits and we called it a ride at 224 clicks. I went with Currb and Toby to their house and we threw on those pipes lickity -split! Man ! They sound AUUWWWWESOME!!!
Thanks for the TailGun Currb! Thanks for following me today PC 162~!
'Til the Next Ride...
