4 other PC 162 members- RoadQueen, Ditch, Preacher and Paul D- were huddled together under cover at the Circle K gas pumps keeping each other warm and calling me on the cellphone to see if we were still riding! haha!!! I was late for the "9:45ish " pre-ride due to College Rd....need I say more?!
We had a quick pow-wow , saddled up and rolled out at 10:01am. Heading out 117 to Paul's Hot Dogs , making a left on 133 and following 210 NorthWest towards Salemburg. We had a nice cruise for about 58 miles before stopping on 210 at a small grocery/gas/general store called "Longs." I never recall stopping there, but it seems that it has been there for a good while! The gravel parking lot was piled high and deep but our 2 trikes and 3 bikes had no issues.
Browsed around the store a bit (it had EEEVERYthing), then we jumped back on the bikes and continued our trek. About 10 more miles on 210, then a right turn on 242 and we were heading into Roseboro and eventually Salemburg. We pulled in the pizza place at around noon with 80 clicks on the clock.
Quiet and not too busy. Friendly folks and good grub. Thankfully, RoadQueen paid my way as I forgot my wallet at home! (wink wink) . Much appreciated Deb! We chatted and sampled all that the buffet had to offer. They had a nice selection of stuff , good desserts, etc. Always enjoy this place !
The sun was out in full and the sky was blue with a few streams of clouds floating around. We were thankful for a 12 degree rise in temp and some sun to warm us up a bit. The cruise back followed the same route. Besides following a slow-moving semi loaded down with corn for a few miles, we had a great ride back through the curves on 210.
We got into Johnson's Corner on 421 for a gas stop and final goodbyes. We called the Professor to see if he and Cowboy still needed help moving the roof of the shed? They said "Hellll yeah!" So, we headed down 421 towards Wilmington proper. Preacher and Ditch left the group at I140 and Paul D, Road Queen and I headed towards Travis' old house. We finished the ride at that point with 165 miles.
Thanks to Preacher for watching the back of the line up today! Sorry that there was no ice cream stops available on our route.
Thanks for following me today!
