After we registered for the ride, some folks got in on the AR-15 Raffle (like me), hit up the Hot Dog stand, or did a bit of shopping. Deb found some really nice boots on sale and John picked up supplies for an oil change. Mike Rahgo and Diane appeared and joined the ride. We even bumped into Susan Prentice. After the Safety Brief, 300 Bikes rolled out (SCRC representing 9 Bikes and 12 Riders) with Police Escort down Market St and MLK to Hwy 421 to Leland. The Tail Gunner called out on the Radio that John Cain was having an issue with his bike. The procession turned on Hwy 133, taking some back roads through Belville and Boiling Springs to our destination at Beach House Harley Davidson. Just before we pulled in, my phone rings and it is Deb. She told me that she pulled out with John to fix his bike and now the both of them were waiting at the Harley Davidson for us. The ride was what you would expect when it was 300 bikes long but everyone arrived safely.
The place was packed and our group was hungry so we did not stay long. Jerry Lipka and Perry O’toole decide to stay at BHHD for the festivities. Jerry Mintz joined the rest of the group as we rolled out to Patio’s Tiki Bar & Grill in Little River SC (8 Bikes & 11 Riders). I missed the turn into the restaurant so we had an opportunity for a group U-turn which we all performed perfectly. If I would of read the giant sign about Motorcycle Parking we would not have had to park in gravel (Sorry Guys). The group was still in good spirits so they did not haze me too much. The Food was great and the service was good considering how busy they were. Pam and Deb just had to have the Chocolate Covered Brownie with Ice Cream. We definitely need to return to this spot!
With full bellies we headed north to Wilmington on HWY 17. We took our last comfort stop at the BP in Supply. We said our goodbyes discussing the days events with one another. You just could not ask for a better day of riding with SCRC – Port City 162.
Thanks to everyone that joined in and special thanks to Road Queen for doing such an awesome job Tail Gunning and Leading from our last Comfort stop. 142 Miles for the day with just a lot of smiles. Way to step up Cruisers for a great cause!
Until next ride.
