We did the pre-ride and a prayer to start the day and our Prayers were answered- GREAT, SAFE, FUN day of riding as we requested from the Man Upstairs!
Our route out of ILM was typical fare. The group stayed together nicely and everyone with CB's chipped in assisting with communications on the road. We found out that Scotty's antenna on his CB is broken, but he was still able to get info relayed back to him and had a good TailGun training ride!
Lake Waccamaw saw me make the same mistake as the last ride this way- going 214 when it was closed from Bolton to the Lake. We had to circumvent the road closure, but no major deal. We got back on 74/76 smoothly, exited at Lake Waccamaw and got back on the planned route without incident.
The fun began as we dipped into the back roads of Columbus County. Giles Byrd to Hallsboro to Ward Town to 905(7 Creeks Road. 905 Gave us our first rest stop at 63 miles. We had a nice break and talked about cb radio issues and everyone's health. I made sure everyone was relieved, filled up, warmed up, etc and called 5 minutes to kick stands up!
We enjoyed a curvy cruise for the remainder of 905 and hung a Louie on 904(Swamp Fox) to get into the Loris/Tabor City area. 701 took us into Loris and everyone was read to eat!!
The Sub Nazi was not there, but his crew did a great job getting orders in and out in quick fashion. EVERYONE loved the food and the experience! Get the GIANT I say!!!
We planned a gas stop across the street from the sub shop, so everyone filtered over there at their own pace. We got into formation at that point and got moving onto SC9E Business to SC 9 East. The group made a left on Hickman and picked up 17 into Shallotte where it was ice cream time.
At The Daily Scoop, some indulged and others didn't. A small crew assembled to fix the Road Queens highway peg that was off kilter and "driving her crazy." The tools were packed away, folks were ready to roll, so we said our goodbyes at that point before getting back on 17 into Wilmington.
A fantastic day on the scoot if I do say so myself. I enjoyed everyone's company and it seems that everyone had a great time? If you didn't, thanks for not complaining!! haha!
Thanks to Scott for Tailgunning along with Deb and some help from Alan with that high-quality Gold Wing CB!!
