We saddled up and headed toward Lake Waccamaw via MLK and Isabella Holmes Bridge and 74/76 into Bolton. This is where we met up with Professor who had to work in the morning. He filtered into the group and we continued on 214 past Lake Waccamaw , made a left on Giles Byrd Rd. and went to one up and got on the throttle a bit!
At the intersection of Hallsboro Rd., we made a left and followed Hallsboro down to the stop sign and made a left to continue on Hallsboro for a bit and then a right on Ward Town Rd. N.. We continued across New Briton Hwy E and followed Ward Town Rd. S in one-up formation to lay into the curves. Next a left onto 905/7 Creeks Hwy.. A few miles down the road we arrived at our rest stop at the Marathon/Home Run Food Mart in Nakina.
DevinT was doing a fine job riding in position with the group and staying out of the ditches. One hiccup on a turn took him onto the shoulder , but he recovered perfectly. He got many compliments from the group and he seemed to be having a great time. He can ride for sure!
We got back on the scoots after some small talk and refreshments. Back onto 905 through the Seven Creeks area. We made a right onto 904 /Swamp Fox Hwy and followed it into Tabor City. We picked up 701 heading into Loris SC. There was a minor back-up due to a fender bender that slowed our progress, but we arrived at American Hero in good time.
The Sub Nazi was ready for us! They had a limit of 4 at the counter at a time, so we each filtered in as others came out. Some Cruisers sat outside and others took advantage of limited indoor seating. Either way, it was ALLLLLLL goood! Ditch and Professor devoured their giant subs. No easy feat. I mean... we are talking an 18" sub!
After lunch we saddled up and stopped at the Speedway in Loris to top off the tanks. We followed the same route back with a brief rest stop at the BP in Lake Waccamaw. We all said our goodbyes with hugs and fist bumps. The group finished off the ride into ILM on 74/76 with folks peeling off at their exits.
We got a few more klicks than expected today - 190 - but stayed well under our expected ride time.
Thanks to Deb for Tailgunning and the rest of ya for following me!
Till the Next Ride...
