After Pre-ride, we got on the road and headed toward Castle Hayne. We snaked thru the Roundy -Round and stayed on Castle Hayne Rd. to the GE Plant where we got onto 140. We took 140 down to the Navassa exit and then rolled into Leland to get on River Road.
Down past the Gator Pit we took a right on Daw's Creek/Funston to come out on 87. From there down to Danford Rd. into Bolivia. Old Ocean HWY, Benton Rd to 17 and our first rest stop. Professor was there after work waiting for us . We cooled off under the canopy for a minute and then got ready to saddle up.
Stone Chimney led us into Holden Beach and things started to move slowly as we got into Shallotte. Too hot for the back way today, so I headed out to 17 and we got our knees in the breeze for the final approach into Little River and Capt. Archies. Grant continued on to Myrtle Beach.
Archies was heating up for Bike Week crowds and MOTORCYCLE PARKING ONLY was in effect! We got a few high-top tables on the deck and got our drinks ordered with quickness. The food and service was great! Scotty's father joined the crew for lunch. We goofed off and took in the scenery and listened to good ol' country music! After we were done, we settled up (Thanks Professor!). Scotty was staying behind to hang out with Dad.
We took a short cruise into Cherry Grove Beach for ice cream at the Dairy Hut. The AC felt grreat . We tried to linger as long as we could, but the Hut started to fill up with customers, so we moved along.
Back on the scoots, we headed up 17N to a much needed rest stop at 87. I love the Beer Cave this time of year! Cooled off , we finished the ride into ILM where everyone took their respective exits to head home.
165 klicks on the klock today! Thanks to Preacher for Tailgunning and the rest of ya'll for following me!
'Til the Next Ride...
