stories from the road...
The day started a bit chilly but we had 8 bikes and 10 riders at the Shell for the Pre-Ride Briefing. Everyone was happy to see that Dottie join us as it has been some time since she rode with the group. After correcting some communication issues, we rolled up HWY 117 to Hwy 41 to our 1st comfort stop @ the Exxon in Wallace. The group took a few minutes stretch their legs and warm up before we all saddled back up and headed down HWY 41 to HWY 50 and over to Cypress Creek Road. There must have been some kind of tournament going on because parked along both sides of the road were Hunters and their dogs. We had to slow down for several miles as we navigated through the chaos. Curb, Pam and I got a quick view of a lone Deer skipping across the road in front of us! Later, I would hear from some of the other members that they saw some deer in the fields. Lucky for them, Deer Season ended a few weeks ago. We would reach our destination without any further delay. The food was great and everyone seemed pleased. The temperature took a nose dive while we were eating so we saddled up quickly and headed for Wilmington via HWY 17. Most of us stopped in at Harley Davidson of Jacksonville while some folks continued on as they had things to do. We said our goodbyes as this would be our last stop. We turned south and headed home. It turned out to be a nice ride.
