After our stop, we continued on our journey down Hwy 41 and arrived at the restaurant around 11:45 AM. Good thing too since we made it just before the after church crowd and waiting lines began to gather. Mickey & Linnea were waiting for us too bringing our total rider count to 9…yahoo! As usual, the food and service at this place is fantastic with Travis getting Lasagna, Pistol Pete ordering Pizza and Eric and I had the Preacher’s Special, which was a stir fry with chicken & vegetables. Everyone was full and no takers on desert as I recall so we were ready to twist some more throttle and head back.
We traveled a more direct route home with one exception, a little detour over the Elwell Ferry in Riegelwood, NC. For some who have not experienced this ferry it was interesting to say the least. The ferry could only fit our 7 bikes to cross the Cape Fear River, which was around 100 yards across or so and it was free too! After the ferry, we stopped in Riegelwood for our comfort stop and say our goodbyes traveling a total of 160 miles for the day.
Thanks to Eric for doing a great job as his first qualification ride as Tail Gunner-In-Training, to Deb “Road Queen” as his Evaluator and to everyone who decided to spend their day with us on our journey!
Ride safe & often….
