Currb, Preacher, Gwynn, Alan, Paul D gathered around to hear my pre-ride and I asked Preacher lead a prayer. On the bikes, we rolled out of the K a few minutes past 10- heading toward Blue Clay Rd., Sidbury Rd, and Dairy Farm to Holly Shelter.
Left on 210 and up to Shaw Hwy before turning right on Old Maple Hill. The Sun was coming out and the day had warmed up nicely. We took it easy on Old Maple Hill and took a right on 50 to Haw Run, eventually dropping out on 53 and our Rest Stop at 40+ miles.
From there, we took 258 down by the Which Wich and hit RhodesTown Rd and Gum Branch to get us to Mission BBQ on Western Blvd right at noon o'clock. We paused a moment before entering as they play the National Anthem every day at 12pm. Inside, it took us probably 6 minutes to order and sit down with our food. I love that! We had a nice chat with our new rider- Paul D. We got to know him a little better and hopefully didn't scare him away! We also got to know a heck of a lot about one of the service staff and the adventure that brought her from Orlando FLA to Jacksonville....
Back on the scoots, we retraced our steps back out to 258 Richlands HWY, but this time took a right on 111 for the obligatory Ice Cream Stop at Dempsey's. Some grabbed some ice cream and others stood around and talked about motorcycle tires. After this pretty quick stop we headed out and back over to 53 via FireTower Rd and Pony Farm- from there retracing our morning route back into Castle Hayne. I pulled into the Circle K at Holly Shelter Rd. so we could say our goodbyes.
It turned out to be a bright and sunny day in January that warmed up to just below 60. Can't complain about that! Welcome to Paul D, out newest prospect. Good to have you riding with us! Thanks to Currb for tailgunning!
