A big thank you to the Cruisers who braved the uncertainties of the North Carolina weather. The day opened with a persistent rain, but the forecast seemed to show some hope of clearing, so the ride plan stayed intact. The rain had cleared by 9:15 and 7 Cruisers were ready to roll at 10 o'clock. But alas there was a report of two Cruisers who were lost. Ten minutes later we were able to roll out with 7 bikes and 9 Cruisers representing 3 chapters.
Circled back to 140 to cross the river. The new road is not on the GPS and caused a great number of recalculations before we emerged on highway 17. We broke off onto Stone Chimney road and headed to Holden Beach and Provisions. We arrived a little after 11 and the line was already out the door. But we got to the counter to place our order and we were sent to the deck to await a table. This provided a chance for us to share smiles and face time. After being seated we were soon presented with our food. Some of the fries were cold but fresh hot replacements were swapped out.
After our meal we headed to Shallotte for dessert at the "Daily Scoop". Even the Road Queen had ice cream. Then we headed for our last stop to visit our recovering Sheila. It was so great to see her smile and she walked all the way out to the bikes.
A great day with 107 miles and plenty of smiles.
