We had 8 PC 162 members gather at the Circle K - Ditch, Professor, Slingshot, Paul Sr., Paul Jr., Gwynn, rePete and the inaugural club ride for Tony M!! Also, ol' friends Ray and Bridgette Horwath were there to join the ride for the first time in awhile! Around 9:45 the riders from the CMA showed up- 3 of which were Cruisers- bringing Cruiser Nation up to 11 riders. We said hello , organized our donations and got started with the pre-ride.
Cliff from CMA led the up to Jacksonville via 40/140/17 and we arrived as scheduled around 11am. We got our donations together and dropped them off at the CMA table. The PC 162 and CMA mingled, had some coffee and cookies, and spectated as other riding clubs came in and dropped off their donations.
A local Motor Officer was leading the ride over to Golden Coral and addressed the riders concerning safety and route. The coordinators from the soup kitchen addressed the crowd, thanking everyone for their time and contributions. PC 162 decided not to go to Golden Coral, instead opting for a local fast food joint called the ARK. We let all the other bikes roll out and we headed the .8 miles over to the "chicken shack."
We were fortunate that it was a warm day due to the ARK being take out only. It was good stuff and very affordable. It was a fried food type of joint , with tubs of chicken ready to go in the fryer. We sat outside , socialized and ate. I'd go back again!
The ride home was standard fare- 53, Haw Run, Old Maple Hill- with only a brief sprinkle on Haw Run. We all arrived safely in Castle Hayne to say our goodbyes.
120 Klicks today!. Thanks to Professor for tailgunning and thanks to all the Cruisers that followed me today!
'Til the Next Ride...
