We headed out via 117 and got into Rocky Point where we took a right onto Old River Rd./Stag Park Rd. and wound it up a bit in single file. We turned left and finished up the curvy cruise to 53. We headed north on 53 , turned right onto 50 and rolled allll the way out Haw's Run Rd. to our first rest stop at the Handy Mart.
Everyone took in or let out refreshments and then we mounted up and headed over to 17. Right on 17S and we were heading for Rick's Sports Bar in Sneed's Ferry. We got to the restaurant a little around high noon and they were already busy . We were seated in no time, using 3 tables, 6 feet apart. Gotta stay safe, right?!
The service was friendly and efficient. If anyone had complaints, they kept them to themselves. Road Queen was our host for today and she made her rounds to each table making sure everyone was happy . We finished up, cashed out and got ready to roll.
It was about 1:30pm and I decided to roll through Top Sail on our way back out to 17 and finish off the day with a run at Old Maple Hill. The cruise down the island was nice and we got to take in the sights from both high-rise bridges. When we got to 17, Preacher and Sandy decided to head for home. The rest of us continued on 50 over to Old Maple Hill.
OMH turned out to be a mellow run. We got separated a bit at the start when most of the group stopped or slowed down to check on a girl sitting on the side of the road by a spun-around car in the ditch. She was ok and the tow truck was coming up the road to hook her up.
The group mostly got back together and we got into the rhythm and leaned into the curves. We gathered back together at the intersection of Shaw Hwy and finished off the ride to the Kangaroo in Castle Hayne via Shaw Hwy., 210 and Holly Shelter Rd. We said our goodbyes there and Road Queen spread Covid around to everyone.
Todays klicks- 151. A little more than planned, but we got back at 3pm as promised. Thanks to all that came out to enjoy this beautiful day. Thanks to Road Queen for Tailgunning and warshing her hands .
'Til the Next Ride...
