We departed and took back roads to Hampstead and then main roads up to Surf City. The new bridge is awesome! It is wide and curves as you go over it, which allows you to see the sights better. No time to stay - we went around the roundabout and headed toward Maple Hill.
No stores open at the intersection of 50 and Haws Run road, so we continued on to the grocery store / convenience store in Maple Hill. The Road Captain decided it was time to demonstrate how to pick up a dropped bike when the Professor is not around. After warming up and some hot chocolate by a couple of folks, we decided that there was not sufficient interest in stopping at Wells Pork Products and we proceeded to Adkinson.
The folks were very friendly and we were soon looking at burgers, breakfast or beef tips, depending on your choice. Deb opted out of the butter beans as her side. Speaking of friends, Kenny joined us in time to have a beverage with us. He was riding his wife's Honda 250 after getting it inspected.
We said our goodbyes in the parking lot, as we were only 30 or so miles away from Wilmington. We traveled back via Currie and the group split up at 421.
A total of 124 miles for the day and NO RAIN! Thanks to TGIT Scottie for gunning for me.
