A chilly morning greeted 6 Cruisers for a ride to "The Rock" to watch the Harley Drags. Gwynn, Bob(new guy) Tim Cone, Slingshot, John Cain and yours truly, rePete.
The ride to and fro was standard stuff out 74/76- comfort stops at the Sun Do in Boardman. In Laurel Hill, we busted a right turn and got off the beaten path to cut over to the backside of the Rock.
The place was more lively than we had seen for the ManCup races. Many, many more fans(bikers) and a lot of campers and scooters and general noise. At first, we sat in the stands by where we parked, Then we moved over to the CMA tent and then right beside the starting line.
The drags were cool.... unfortunately.... there was rain all over the place in that area and it just took a few drops for them to shut down the track. During the forced breaks from action, we talked about bikes, tires, oil and all kinds of other stuff. We perused the merchant tents to pass the time. Bob was the big spender on the day. He was into it!!! He got a couple event shirts for him and the wife and a couple of America- themed metal signs for the man room! The track crew we busy as they jet-dried the track ...and dragged rubber down it ...and sprayed it with SLR(Starting Line Resin). It was about an hour and a half...
They went back to racing and this time jumped right to the Nitro bikes. We saw about 8 bikes launch before the rain moved in again. This time, they called it quits. The day was over at about 2pm.??
Everyone started to load up. It was actively raining and we got the rain jackets on and started to head out. Preacher joined us for the ride back. We got about 8 miles from the track and it was dry?!?! Dammit! We stopped at a corner gas in Laurel Hill and got the rain gear off. Couple guys grabbed gas and it was off to Wilmington.
We said our goodbyes at the Sun Do in Boardman.
Great day!! Great ride! 267 Klicks on the Klock. Thanks for following me!
Till the Next Ride,
